I saw this over on SubGuns and thought WOW, now that's a Short Barrel Rifle!

Geez, what's the point of that? Seems like a what? 4" barrel is pretty much useless?

That's the whole point... it's just for shits and giggles. What's the pint of any SBR really? From what I've seen, it's mostly to be ATAS.
I think the guy was an SOT and whacked the barrel off a $60.00 rifle just because he could. I'd like to shoot it! Lay some powder in the handguard just for extra flash. ;D
I've got a 7" barrel for my M-16. Why? Just because it's so much fun to shoot. It has zero practical application IMHO, but boy is it a hoot to shoot!

Hey, I like shortys like the next guy, but there has to be SOME advantage. My SBR AR is great for close up stuff and is very maneuverable...but still has decent ballistics at 10.5". That guy should at least cut the stock down too. What kind of velocity do you figure he's getting from a 4" barrel? LOL

Clearly the advantage is having the loudest, largest flame throwing, shortest barrel Mosin Nagant in the free world. That's reason enough!
So this 02/07 FFL takes a $60.00 surplus rifle and whacks the barrel off just for fun. Heck, I'd like to shoot it just because of the fireball it'd throw. It cost the manufacturer nothing but time to put the barrel in his chop saw and knock off 16" of what was probably a rusted and pitted 60 year old barrel.
Obviously he left the fore stock in place to accommodate the black powder he plans on laying in the barrel groove.
I think he needs to crown the barrel and bed it for better accuracy. ;D
Obviously not many people would pay the two hundred bucks to have a transferable SBR Mosin, but if all it costs you is a few minutes with an old rifle, it'd be a lot of fun. You'd probably need sun screen to shoot the beast!
Sometimes life isn't about practically, it's about having a little fun. Just like my 7" M-16 barrel and Beta C dumps. Hardly practical and very wasteful, but boy does it make me grin.
